"In two years, all three of us are going to Ireland. Deal?"
It was Christmas night and I can't remember which one of us originally came up with the idea, but between Katie, Ed, and myself, we all made a deal that we would travel to Ireland by 1997. The three of us have had loads of travel experience from various family trips to Hilton Head and Chicago together, and generally a good time was had by all with plenty of laughing and teasing. Going to Ireland would be the same but so much more. Being instinctively proud of our irish heritage but not knowing any details of the family history from the old country, this trip just HAD to happen. Sometime. So we made the deal - in two years we'd travel to Ireland.
Or three.
My great-grandfather, Michael Reidy, emigrated to America in 1880 presumably for a better life and to raise a family. He never returned but many of his descendants have, from his daughter Agnes to his great-great-grandkids, Megan Reidy, and Molly and Bobby Fleet. This site will be a place to post pictures and stories about our many travels "back" to Ireland and it is dedicated to Michael and his wife Margaret Donnellan Reidy and the many cousins and friends that we've met along the way.
